Good morning!
For all of you architecture students that have been up all night, it is Sunday, 8 October.
I love it when my kids ask me, usually at dinner, how my day was. At first, though, lots of thoughts go through my brain...
- Man, Bruce was a real dick today, I wonder what happened?
- Did I actually send that VERY IMPORTANT email to my client?
- That sketch I did this morning this morning, I wonder how the Louvre would like it framed? Hmmm...
- And so on...
So after being internally bombarded with all these racing thoughts swirling around my head, I address my audience and state, "well, I colored all day!" I was going say I worked on a client rendering but 3 to 7-year-olds understand coloring a lot better! After the laughter stops, my daughter composes herself and says, "Really?"
The basic answer is yes, I had been preparing a small presentation to a client for an addition to their house. But as the design director, I have much more responsibility than coloring, oh, I mean rendering! My day started by checking in with the staff and addressing any questions and concerns they have with the assigned projects. This process usually results in a ton of questions that require phone calls and emails to clients, contractors, and consultants.
Hours later, back at my desk, I suddenly realize that it is 1:00 PM, I haven't even started my own personal workday agenda! I have a presentation tomorrow...
Um, I'll get back to you guys soon, I have a presentation to finish!
Part 2, later this afternoon...
